Friendship Connections Disclaimer

1. Nature of Service

Meade County Local ("MCL," "the Platform") is a community platform for the residents of Meade County, Kentucky. The "Meade County Friendships" feature allows users to create friendship profiles to meet new people for platonic connections including outdoor activities, social hangouts, hobbies, sports, and more. MCL is not a professional matchmaking service or social agency. The Friendships feature is provided as a community convenience, similar to a community bulletin board, and is offered on an as-is basis without any guarantee of results, compatibility, or successful connections.

2. No Liability

MCL, its administrators, moderators, and operators assume no responsibility or liability for any interactions, meetings, communications, disputes, or outcomes arising from the use of the Friendships feature. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Physical or emotional harm resulting from in-person meetings
  • Financial loss due to interactions with other users
  • Misrepresentation of identity, age, or intentions by users
  • Any criminal activity by users of the platform
  • Disputes or disagreements between users

Your use of the Friendships feature is entirely at your own risk.

3. User Responsibility

Users are solely responsible for their own safety when interacting with other users through the Friendships feature. You should:

  • Verify the identity of anyone you plan to meet in person
  • Meet in public places for initial encounters
  • Inform a trusted friend or family member of your plans
  • Never share financial information with someone you met online
  • Report any suspicious or threatening behavior immediately

4. Eligibility

The Friendships feature is available only to users who meet both of the following requirements:

  • Age: You must be at least 18 years of age to create or view friendship profiles.
  • Verified Local: You must have a verified "Verified Local" badge, confirming you are a resident of or have a verified connection to Meade County, Kentucky.

Attempts to circumvent these requirements may result in account suspension.

5. Prohibited Conduct

The following conduct is strictly prohibited in the Friendships feature and may result in immediate removal and account suspension:

  • Harassment: Unwanted, repeated, or threatening contact with another user
  • Misrepresentation: Providing false information about your identity, age, appearance, or intentions
  • Solicitation: Using the feature for commercial solicitation or any illegal activity
  • Explicit content: Posting sexually explicit photos or messages in profiles
  • Discrimination: Harassing users based on race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or any protected class
  • Stalking: Monitoring, following, or otherwise tracking another user's activities without consent

6. Reporting

If you experience or witness inappropriate behavior in the Friendships feature, please report it immediately using the "Block" button available on every profile. You may also contact us directly at [email protected].

All reports are reviewed by our moderation team. We take reports seriously and will take appropriate action, which may include warning, suspension, or permanent removal of the offending user's account. See our Content Moderation Policy for full details on our enforcement procedures.

7. Safety Tips

We strongly encourage all users of the Friendships feature to review our Friendship Safety Tips page before using the feature. While MCL cannot guarantee your safety, following these guidelines can help reduce risk.

8. Kentucky Law

As of the date of this disclaimer, the Commonwealth of Kentucky does not impose specific licensing or regulatory requirements on online social connection platforms. MCL operates in compliance with all applicable federal and state laws, including:

  • Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act (47 U.S.C. 230), which provides that interactive computer service providers are not treated as publishers of user-generated content
  • Kentucky Consumer Protection Act (KRS 367.110-367.990)
  • Kentucky data breach notification requirements (KRS 365.732)
  • All applicable federal civil rights and anti-discrimination laws

MCL makes no representations regarding the legal status of online social connections in any jurisdiction outside Kentucky.

9. Changes to This Disclaimer

MCL may update this disclaimer at any time. Material changes will be communicated to users through platform notifications. Your continued use of the Friendships feature after such changes constitutes acceptance of the updated disclaimer. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page indicates the most recent revision.
