About Meade County
Brandenburg, Kentucky (county seat)
Meade County is home to more than 28,000 residents along the Ohio River in north-central Kentucky. The county seat, Brandenburg, sits on bluffs overlooking the river. The county is bordered by Fort Knox to the east and offers a mix of small-town life, farmland, and river communities including Ekron, Muldraugh, Vine Grove, and Battletown.
Rich in history — from the Civil War Morgan's Raid through Brandenburg to the founding of Fort Knox — Meade County has a heritage worth preserving and a community worth connecting.

MCL partners with the Meade County Historical Society (MCHAPS) to bring you local history, museum events, and a community heritage archive where residents can submit photos, stories, oral histories, and folklore from Meade County's past.
