Meade County Local pulls information from a number of local, state, and federal sources. This page lists every one of them, what we show, and on what basis.
How we handle news
For news articles we show the headline and the summary the publisher puts in their own feed, along with a link to read the full story at the source. We do not republish full articles. The point is to help you find local reporting and then send you to the people who did the reporting.
If you publish something here and would like it handled differently — changed, credited another way, or removed — please get in touch and we will sort it out.

Meade County Local is itself open source under the AGPL-3.0, so another county can run their own.
Data sources
Alongside the news feeds above, parts of this site are built from public data published by government agencies. Most of it is work of the United States federal government and carries no copyright at all under 17 U.S.C. § 105. We credit it anyway, so anything we publish can be traced back and checked.

Where this runs
Everything here — the site, the database, the search index, and the AI assistant — runs on a single server in Brandenburg, Kentucky. Nothing is processed in a commercial data centre, and questions asked of the assistant are not sent to any outside company.
