Meade County has decent dark-sky spots out toward Otter Creek and the rural KY-228 corridor. You don't need a fancy telescope to start — even a phone on a tripod aimed at the moon during a clear night gets you started. Add a simple star tracker later, then a small refractor, and you're off.
